Bruce M. Whitehead is recognized at both state and national levels for his work in education and is currently on the Board of Directors for Montana State Reading as well as serving as the Chairman of the Governor's Task Force on Technology for Montana. He has written and illustrated four books and has published numerous articles nationally. In recognition of his work in the field of education, he has received Montana's Historical Citation of Merit Award, The University of Montana' Distinguished Alumni Award, The International Reading Association's Presidential Service Award and The National Distinguished Principal's Award. He also is a recipient of the John F. Kennedy Center's Arts in Education Award as a result of his work as a professional illustrator and bronze sculptor. His art work often depicts educational themes in Montana. Dr. Whitehead is currently the principal of Hellgate Intermediate School as well as an adjunct visiting professor at the University of Montana.
