Body System Model |
|
Your challenge is to create
a working model of one of the major body systems. The Model: Your model should meet the following requirements: -It should be built out of,
used, found, or inexpensive items. -It should have moving or
working parts that operate smoothly. -It should include 4 to 6
organs that work together in the system. -It should clearly
demonstrate how the chosen body system works. -Your model need not look
exactly like the organs it represents (think of Mr. Bixby’s heart model), but
it should function in a similar way.
For instance, pumps should actually pump, filters, should actually
filter, absorbers should actually absorb, digesters should actually digest,
muscles should move, fluids should flow. The presentation: When you present the model
to the class, you should be an expert on the body system you chose. Prepare some notes to help
you get through your presentation. Your presentation should Include: -The names of 4 to 6
important parts of the system -A clear description of how
the system works -A well practiced
demonstration of how your model works -Some suggested food to eat
or activities to do to take care of the system you modeled. Hints: When you demonstrate your
model, you can move the various parts by hand. They need not move on their own. Rubber gloves, balloons,
tubing, and tape, can be useful in a lot of ways. |
