Daily Oral Practice

Daily Geography

The Daily Geography is a supplement to the regular social studies curriculum. It is designed to help students learn to resolve questions using a variety of social studies resources. Globes, pull-down maps, and atlases, as well as dictionaries, encyclopedias and CD-ROM's are all available in the classroom. Students are required to answer one section (two questions) each day. Atlases are available for check out for students who need to complete work at home.

Daily Oral Language

The Daily Oral Language is a strategy for teaching capitalization, punctuation, language usage and common homophone spellings in a concise manner. This allows more time in the language arts period to apply these skills in their own writing.

The program is divided into weekly sheets with two sentences to practice on each day. The fifth day is a test. The students have access to these sentences at all times and I strongly encourage them to prepare for the fifth day test. They may prepare by orally going over the sentences or rewriting the sentences on another piece of paper and making necessary corrections. I have suggested to the students that they also go over the test sentences with a parent. If they are uncertain of any correction they may ask me for assistance on any day except the test day.

Daily Analogies

Daily Analogy is a teaching tool to help students develop their vocabulary, learn to seek answers from a variety of resources, and to think about logical relationships between words and ideas. The program is divided into weekly sheets with two exercises to study each day.

 Note about daily assignments:

If your children are spending large amounts of time on daily assignments as homework toward the end of each week, check that they are keeping up with each day's questions. Students who use their time wisely in class and keep up with daily activities should experience very little extra homework as a result of the daily learning sheets.
